PORTRAIT AND PRE SHOOT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

An outdoor family photo session is such a great way to capture those natural, relaxed moments, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Whether it’s a sunny day in a park, a golden hour shoot by the beach, or a cozy forest scene, outdoor settings bring a fresh and timeless feel to the photos. Here’s how I’d describe an outdoor family session:
Choosing the Location:
First, I’d talk with the family about what kind of outdoor vibe they’re after. Some families prefer the greenery of a park or garden, while others might opt for something more adventurous, like a beach, meadow, or even a rustic countryside location. The key is picking a spot that suits the family’s personality and makes them feel comfortable. A natural backdrop—like trees, rolling hills, or even an old barn—adds so much depth to the images, and the soft outdoor light is perfect for creating warm, glowing portraits.
Natural Poses & Interaction:
When it comes to posing, I focus on family interactions rather than stiff poses. For example:
Cuddly moments: Parents can hold their kids in their arms or give them a hug, and I’ll capture the tender connection.
Walking shots: A great way to capture a family’s energy is to have them walk together, holding hands, or just chatting as they stroll. Walking shots give a sense of motion and a relaxed vibe.
Playful moments: I might suggest games like tossing a child into the air, giving piggyback rides, or chasing each other through the field. These types of shots help to bring out genuine smiles and laughter, and they always make for some of the most joyful images.
Quiet moments: For more intimate, quieter photos, I might ask the family to sit together on a picnic blanket or on a large rock, just enjoying the moment—sometimes with soft words or even laughter in the background.
